Art Pick of the Week
Where my girls at?
By Erin Sierchio
Where are all the paintbrush-toting women? Well, artist and curator
Shaunna Peterson has rounded up a gaggle of gifted female artists
for The Girly Show, a show featuring artwork by 10 "bombshells."
What's a bombshell, you may ask? According to the Toyroom Gallery,
bombshells are "jaw-dropping, seductive, wicked, voluptuous
seductresses wielding sexual empowerment and control and, in
this case, artistic prowess." Kim Scott,
Martha Rich, Tara McPherson, Lesley Reppeteaux, Elisa Terranova,
Carrie Cottini, Stephanie Skalisky, Tex, Lisa Scollan and, of
course, Peterson are the featured bombshells. The Toyroom Gallery,
and the temptation, is located in the alley between Second Avenue
and Sloat Way in Curtis Park. Find out what makes these bombshells
tick, from 6:30 p.m. until "late" Thursday, July 15,
through Saturday, July 17. Call (916) 457-5269 or visit www.toyroomgallery.com for more information.
